Sub-sea Coupling, a case study

The seven stages of refurbishing a sub-sea coupling.

Here is a typical example of a sub-sea coupling, that could be used at varying depths and temperatures in any ocean around the world. From initial unloading to dispatch, the coupling is subject to strict industry standard dwell time. It is normal practice that there is no more than a four hour gap between stages unless paint drying time dictates otherwise.
Ripblast's policy is to cut the dwell time to no more than two hours between stages.

NORSOK Standards

The NORSOK standards are developed by the Norwegian petroleum industry to ensure adequate safety, value adding and cost effectiveness for petroleum industry develo-pments and operations. Furthermore, NORSOK standards are as far as possible intended to replace oil company specifications and serve as references in the authorities regulations.

There are forty years of petroleum experience from the Norwegian continental shelf behind the NORSOK standards.

The acronym NORSOK, originally stands for "the Norwegian shelf’s competitive position" and was introduced in 1994 to cut costs and improve competitiveness on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Standards Norway has signed an agreement with the owners, the Federation of Norwegian Industries, the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association and Norwegian Shipowners´ Association, for the management of the NORSOK standards. (Reference NORSOK Standards)
